Our students are interested to learn about the U.S. legal system, and to have the opportunity to take the California and Washington state bar exam in order to practice law in the United States.

For these reasons, Tecnológico de Monterrey partnered with Washington University School of Law to offer a dual LL.M. in U.S. Law and in Transnational Legal Practice. The Washington University School of Law is ranked in the top 20 law schools in the United States by U.S. News and World Report¹ and has a long tradition of excellence.

The dual Master of Laws program is delivered completely online through the virtual @WashULaw campus. Students can also participate in an optional in-person immersion in St. Louis, Missouri.

The dual LL.M. welcomes lawyers who have not received legal training in the United States, and who wish to develop their knowledge of international law — including legal practice in the United States and Latin America — but are unable to set aside their professional or personal commitments. The program combines the curricula of two top-ranked universities, and its live, online classes are taught by a distinguished faculty.

Graduates earn an LL.M. in Transnational Legal Practice from the School of Government and Public Transformation — Tecnológico de Monterrey, and an LL.M. in U.S. Law from Washington University School of Law. The dual degree is a fully accredited program, with no distinction made between this program and the two in-person programs taught on both university campuses. Students typically complete the program in two to three years (24 to 36 months) on a full- or part-time basis. Once they have successfully completed the program, graduates could be eligible to take the California and Washington State Bar Exam.
